Check engine light on, P0447 codes 96 and 99.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I got readings from my Boxster 1997 today. The car is US-model and made in Stuttgart. I have my Check Engine light on with code:

P0447

Code: 96 (Shutoff Valve Activated)

Code: 99 (Tank Pressure Sensor)

I reset the codes, tried with another (although used) cap for the tank but it did not help.

If I reset the code and drive on the highway (tried for 1 hour), light will not come but if I leave the car running while parked, light will come in about 10 minutes.

Any suggestions?

Thanks again!

  • 3 years later...

I finally decided to take care of the problem. I removed the wheel lining to access the evaporative canister and wham! I am missing the WHOLE valve and the wiring...

I ordered the valve but could not find a a loose cable to insert.

Where should I start looking? Where is the valve connected?
