transmission mounts

Recommended Posts

I changed ours out not long after replacing the motor mount(console), at about 50+k. It made a fair bit of difference(improved shifting, less drivetrain movement, virtually eliminated all vibrations/noises/rattles, etc.). Ours were not leaking but they had collasped at least .5-.75 of and inch. They were somewhat pricey at about $200 a piece. Its not a bad DIY, but if menory serves me, the passenger side trans mount is a bit of a bear to R&R(read:very tight).

regards

Heck, Ive seen a guy swap out tranny mounts on a stock Box in a parking lot at an autocross.

I dont think its that big of a deal as far as DIY goes.

U should at least be able to find a non-dealer repair shop to do it for much less.

If you are in SoCal i can give you some leads.

2x Tj. I forget where they are but usually it's putting the car on jacks stands, use a floor jack to lift the trans/eng a bit, unbolt, pop out and in with the new. Anyone who wants $1700...well, I wouldn't necessarily trust his evaluation.

That sounds pretty high. In comparison to an engine mount replacement, which seems to be a more painful repair by the comments on this board, a local P dealer in Toronto quoted me just under $500 CAD part and labour for the engine mount. I can't imagine the transmission mounts would require $1700 in labour alone.

Would I just be able to replace the transmission mount and not the bracket? I saw on pelican parts that they sell the transmission mount without the bracket> If this can be done then I think I will be able to replace the trans mount without any problem. Can anyone confirm the torque specs on the two hex bolts and the one large torx bolt. Thanks
