Upgrading 2004 Cayenne to SAT/NAV PCM

Recommended Posts

CAYENNE_NAV_PCM2_Install_Guide.pdf

Finally got the correct answer regarding what is involved to upgrade my 2004 Cayenne to a NAV system.

This misguided plan of mine got started when I spotted a reconditioned Becker Porsche NAV unit for sale on eBay for $800. Fortunately, my thick Irish skull thought to ask somebody what kind of parts & labor i could be looking at.

A phone car to the experts at Suncoast Porsche in Florida revealed that despite having a NAV unit, that the following parts would also be required... :o

John,

I took these parts numbers out of the install guide. Should be everythign you will need:

1 996-642-205-02 NAVIGATION MO 1 1019.98 1019.98

3 N-105-842-01 TAPPING SCREW 4 0.13 0.52

4 955-647-107-01 ANTENNA 1 62.91 62.91

6 955-612-952-00 RUBBER SLEEVE 1 1.24 1.24

7 955-612-951-00 RUBBER SLEEVE 1 7.79 7.79

8 999-630-003-40 GROUND CABLE 2 0.21 0.42

13 955-647-207-00 COAX CONNECTI 1 23.54 23.54

Total is $1147.42

Since these items are electrical and special ordered we cannot accept a return or exchange. Please let me know if there is anything else we can help you out with.

Thanks,

So it's eleven hundred for parts. Next, i ask what is involved for the installation? "Ryan sends me a PDF file of a document called the Porsche Communication Management 2 Installation Instructions". The instructions call for installing the NAV unit, connection the "Navigation MO" and then running an antenna lead cable from the NAV unit all the way to the back of the vehicle under the roof headliner to the rear spoiler to a point where the GPS antenna is installed. So, I would definately need to spend some $$$ for the install. :o

I would be happy to send you or the administrator the above referenced PDF installation instructions. Thank you for all who are members of this board. :renntech:

My conclusion? Use my iPhone or Blackberry for GPS. It's a lot cheaper! (And easier IMHO).

Cheers,

JOHN O'BRIEN
