IMS Failure?

I am thinking of buying a 2002 Boxster with the 2.7 engine and tiptronic. Miles are 43K. The engine will not start, but it turns over freely and the compression is good in all six cylinders. Am I correct to assume that this is not an IMS failure? The plugs fire and there is fuel in the tank. Should I take it to a dealer and see if it stored a code in the computer? Does this sound like an electrical problem?

Where are you and the car at? Someone might be close with a Durametric.

I am in Ohio, and the car is in Iowa.

If you have fire, it sounds like you need fuel. Do you know that the fuel pump is working and that the injectors are spraying fuel?
