Window Regulator Brand?

Recommended Posts

I just bought a 996 and now it needs both window regulators replaced. I have been searching different sites and there is a big difference in prices. Is oem the way to go or are the others ok? I'm new to this site and have searched but cant find anything on this site about what brand to go with.

Here are some of the prices I have found:

Pelican - $232.75 each

Suncoast - $189.40 each

ebay - $120 to $261 each

Hard to say, If you buy Porsche (Suncoast) I would think that you would have fewer problems. If you buy the ebay stuff, well there is a good chance that it is ok. But, are you doing the work yourself? or paying someone to do the work. For a few dollars more I would be tempted to go with Suncoast I do not like pulling door panels off any more than I have to.

+1 Suncoast. Installed Drivers side 3 months ago, no problems to date.

Darren

Sounds like I am going with Suncoast.

I have looked at the install instructions and i'm decent at working on cars and have done several window motors but never a regulator and I have never worked on a Porsche. Is there any tips you guys can help me with? Any special tools I need to make it easier?

Thanks!!!

I have some plastic door removal tools that I purchased from Harbor Freight a year or so ago and I really like them. They are really useful for many things. A 5 Piece Auto Trim and Molding Tool Set that runs about 8 dollars. They also have another set for a little more, the plastic ones are the best I think.
