Issue when centrally locking car (alarm system)

Recommended Posts

Guest

Porsche Boxster S 2001

Recently the only way I am able to centrally lock (and activate the alarm) is by double clicking the key button in quick succession. The car then beeps (horns) once and locks.

However, when I try and click the key button once to lock, it double beeps (horns) and all doors remain unlocked. I have checked the central console, boot (trunk) and bonnet (hood) but no luck.

Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

:welcome:

Two beeps means there is a fault in the alarm/central locking system.

One beep means here is at least one zone open.

If you are getting two beeps you need to find someone or a shop with the Durametric software, a PST2, or PIWIS tester to read the alarm fault codes.

Thanks for the quick reply Loren. Was hoping it was something I could fix. Will follow up with a dealer. :(

I have this same problem (2 beeps when locking) but only intermittently. Are there any wiring harnesses that I should be inspecting? The doors lock and unlock properly, the lights sometimes do not flash when the car is locked, the red light on the door lock switch on the center console sometimes stays illuminated and the passenger window sometimes is a little slow (1/2 - 1 second) to lower the 1/4 inch when opening the door.

I live in a damp climate and recently had to clean the wiring harness to the emergency brake in order to lower and raise the top...

I'll see about adding codes to the post later.

Yes, the codes will identify where the problem(s) are - everything else is just a guess.

Thanks Loren,

the codes are 47, 33 & 61.

the problem are that the passenger window does not drop the 1/4 inch (intermittent) when lifting the inner or outer door handles. The lower door light does not iluminate when the passenger door is open but does when the drivers door is open. Windows function properly with the window controls and when raising and lowering the top.

When unlocking the car I get 2 beeps of the horn and no flash of the exterior lights when locking or unlocking the car.

Any help is appreciated.

David

Fault 33 -- Passenger compartment monitoring sensor faulty -- Result: No passenger compartment monitoring

Possible cause of fault

- Passenger compartment monitoring faulty

Fault 47 -- Central locking synchronization -- Result: Central locking not possible

Possible cause of fault

- Short circuit to ground/open circuit between alarm system control module and door locks

- Door lock faulty

Fault 61 -- Central locking limit position, Unlocked not reached -- Result: Central locking not possible

Possible cause of fault

- Incorrect country coding

- Short circuit to ground/open circuit in wiring between the alarm system control module, central locking switch or door locks

- Door lock (driver's/passenger's) faulty

- Control module faulty

Chances are you have a bad door lock and microswitch. From your description it would appear the problem is on the passenger side.
