"New to Me" '03 C4S Pics ...and a Headlight question

Recommended Posts

Greetings everyone! I've been lurking around the board for a little over a year now as I've waded through the tons of information out there on 996's. IMS, RMS, oil changes, tire size...you name it. About 2 weeks ago, I finally pulled the rip cord and purchased a 2003 996 C4S in arctic silver w/ boxster red interior and only ~20,000 miles on the clock.

Took delivery in sunny California and proceeded to drive cross country home to Georgia. Truly outstanding trip. I've included a couple of pics from the road and here in ATL.

Sorry on the headlight question. Problem solved!

Thanks for the comments! Nice catch on the YF-23 - the eventual loser to the F-22 in the head to head competition. That pic was taken at the entrance to the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson. Its located next to the plane graveyard @ Davis Monthan AFB. Pretty cool old warbirds in there, including the SR-71, a couple of Buffs and several neat fighters...

Still haven't seen my old plane, RC-135 :notworthy: , on display yet.

great looking car... I enjoy mine as well. I'm stumped on the YF-23, and dont mind asking what you mean. also, consider going to the clear side markers instead of the amber, several good threads on changing over....

and what happened to the headlight question??

One of my pics is in front of a "monument to flight". The aircraft represented are YF-23's, which lost in a head to head competition with the F-22 to take over for F-15's. Don't even know if there are any flying versions around anymore.

Definitely correct on the side markers, have them on order. What type of bulb did you use - amber of clear, LED's?

The headlight question had to do with alignment and the stagger affect of aiming the beams for Bii-Xenon's. My other cars go through a process of self leveling when the lights come on and appear to be balanced. On my P-car, I was told that the self leveling affect takes place when you turn on the ignition and that the driver's side light should be "slightly" lower than the passenger headlight due to oncoming traffic.

thanks for solving the mystery. there's an F15 similarly mounted at the air/space museum in McMinnville, OR. the bulb for the clear side marker is clear as well. best....

Thanks, everyone for the comments. I look forward to learning all I can and hopefully adding a comment or two from time to time. Can't wait to get enrolled in a DE class and learn what a P car can really do!

check out the "official 996 C4S" thread at 6speed, if you haven't already done so. great pics and C4S posts...

Hi Welcome to the Forum - Congratulations on a great purchase, awesome color combo and excellent Roadtrip !! Your C4S looks loaded with goodies and sits proudly on beautiful rims ! Although there is always room for improvement ! Like the sidelights and if you dont have the PSE then the Fister mod for the exhaust is an excellent choice ! I have also installed the 997 shiftbox and find that was money well spent ! Good luck

Regards

Sigfus
