Hi

Vehicle Cayenne 4.5s 2004 58k (recently converted to LGP - I can post pics v tidy job and ultra efficent -- UK Fuel costs equiv to $9.00 per gallon)

i have an issue with my driver's door- it won't open from the outside. It does open from the inside though. I have seen the post on removing the door panel, but there is a black metal cover pop- riveted underneath this and i am afraid about drilling out the rivets in case of refitting issues. I believe something simple is the problem with the outer handle but i can not see without removing the dreaded black plate----any one done this before------any of those superb diagrams. On the up side people think i am a gent for always getting the door for the wife!!!

Oh yes a few codes 907 electronic------1217 airbag Drivers side( is this the same repair for the passenger - locate and hardwire yellow connectors

P0564, P0021, P2189 Motornic

Ps can i contribute without paypal from the UK

Many Thanks for any help

Drill out the rivets. You can re-rivet it or use sheet metal screws to tighten the panel. I still have to fix my door lock (it doesn't lock) and I've drilled out the rivets to see what the problem was. Since I have not done the repair my rivets are still out but the only time my panel makes noise is when the window is down. After I do my repair I will either re-rivet or use screws. I believe you can also access the lock mechanism from the outside handle/ key area. It is a really detailed process, I did it by just looking at it so plan on taking 2 to 4 hours (if you take your time).

I just did a repair on my lock, the door sensor malfunctioned it was constantly saying it was open. Just drill out the rivets, the part you will removing the rivets from is a security feature to prevent "slim jims" from opening your door. It is just a guard over the lock pulley wire.

can't believe it

went to main dealer in belfast - UK the service guy told me the door would have to come off a half day job but he could not do it today

stopped off on the way home and spoke with local VW mechanic who id'd problem and resolved it by unscrewing bolt on side of door and removing small part of the door handle and reconnected the cable and FREE OF CHARGE even though he was busy

i wonder why Porsche would lie about such a thing-----I wonder£££££££££$$$$$$$$$$$

any way i didn't to even remove any of the door panels never mind drilling out the rivets
