Strange Noise When Reversing

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have a 996TT 04 that´s making a strange noise when i´m reversing, it´s only when i start to release the clutch and the engine starts pulling.

When i have released the clutch and reversing in normal speed the noise disappears. There is no noise when i´m rolling backwards with the clutch pushed down. Also there is no noise when i´m going forward.

The sound is coming from the gearbox area and it sounds like a "gearwheel bearing" or somthing and it goes from low pitch to middle pitch and then disapears, it´s just like it is reving up.

Chi chi chi chichichi ...... (not a good depiction)

I´m going to try to record it for you.

I don´t know but it started when i took the car out after the vinter. And the porsche tech did react on it when i had it in for the big service but he belived it maybe was something loose on the exhaust.

But it doesn´t sound like that kind of noise and i think i would hear it when i go forrward.

Maybe i´m just paranoid and it´s nothing?

I will record and post the sound tomorrow
