MY06 997 Carrera Coupe-Manual

When I started the car after winter storage I had a warning for the right tail light. The brake and turn lights are fine. I replaced both tail light bulbs (1 light) and still find the tail light inop. thoughts? BTW, you can only buy the bulbs from the Dealer! $6 apiece!

Check if the third brake light is still working, on a 997, the left brake light is directly controlled by the brake switch, the third and right brake light are controlled by the rear control box, via the brake switch. If both, the third and the right are out, it could be more than a socket.

Here is the latest: new bulbs from dealer were incorrect. Found the correct ones at Autozone, 2/$5! I checked all sockets, no corrosion or other issues. I checked brake lights, all are ok. When the switch is turned on, BOTH tail lights work for an instant and then the right light goes dark.

What to do?????

I'm really stumped.

You could put a volt oham meter on the contacts. Set it for 25 volts

DC. Then have someone step on the brakes. If you see volts go

up and then slowly go down, then you have a problem.

It could be a capacitor or a diode problem.

Let us know what happens.
