Hi,

If you own a Durameric and think you can code in new modules, for eg. a new alarm-vl unit, Tiptronic unit or PSM /ABS module, then I have found out today ...You Cant.

Had a good e-mail chat with Owen Sutton Durametric Software Inc

He said only your OPC can do this. BUMMER !

I was hoping to be able to do all my own repairs. So You have still got to go to Porsche even if you buy a new control unit from another source much cheaper.

Not really - any shop (or individual) with a PST2 or PIWIS tester AND your IPAS codes can program your car. I do it all the time as do several other members here.

Alas I bought the Durametric thinking it did coding. only me to blame on that.

I am now trying to find out how much a PIWIS tester is and where from.

The other problem is getting the codes.

minimum £1000 plus days of pain of forum searches (not this forum)/downloads/soldering or you can become porsche dealer and buy one legaly for about $20k plus some annual maintanance payments

:eek: As I wrote on PH thats alot of DIY repairs I would have to pay for when the majority of faults can be Diagnosed with Durametric and the new parts fitted without the need for coding.

Is the PSM unit reprogrammable, if it conflicts with the chassis/Motronic configuration? Ie PSM from RWD and chassis & Motronic is from 4WD.

Speaking from experience, if you're getting P5281 "Incorrect data transfer", it can't be corrected by (PIWIS) programming, you need compatible boxes. Ie. for a turbo's Motronic a turbo's ABS/PSM unit. It might be possible to program the Motronic, but definetely not the ABS unit. BUT so far no one familiar with Motronic's code haven't chimed in... So, does anyone have an extra ABS/PSM 5.7 from a turbo for sale???
