Any downsides to cat delete?

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about installing a fabspeed cat delete system on my carrera 4. Has anyone used these? Are there any downsides to the cat delete systems? How much horsepower can i expect to gain higher in the rpms?

You mean other than the fact that it is illegal and contributes to excessive air pollution.

If you lose the cats, you either need to flash the car to RoW software or you'll run into all kinds of CELs for cat efficiency and secondary O2 readings.

Big mistake.. Don't get them unless you plan on tracking the car (a lot.)

The tiny bit of high rpm power is negligible. You will lose a lot of of low end torque (which you will miss desperately on the street.)

Plus the car is really loud. Not a nice loud either. like a "rice burner" loud..

I never got a CEL but most people do..

I put them on my 99 3.4 996 and took them off a week later and sent them back to Fabspeed. (Joe was kind enough to refund the price minus shipping.)

Just my opinion but your wasting your money.

Go for the 200 cell cats instead, You'll get a bit of performance gain and the car will still be legal..
