Lights not working

Recommended Posts

I need help trying to find out why my guage cluster lights do not turn on for 10min and sometimes even longer. I also notice that my license plate lights on turn on when the gauge clusters lights are on when i turn on my headlights. The digital read outs are all ok except for the lights that light up the rev, speedo and other clusters. I have checked all fuses and they are all ok. SO when I turn on my headlights none of the lights come on the guage cluster. The only ones that turn on are the digital speedo, mph mileage,ect.. and when this occura i notice the front amber side marker and rear license plate light do not turn on until those cluster light turn on. Again the cluster light take at least 10min or more to illuminate and sometimes dont come on at all. 2002 C2 tip

though i haven't heard of a faulty ignition lock assembly causing this specifcally... I know it can cause all sorts of wierd eletrical gremlins...

when mine was going bad, my a/c would only blow hot air from time to time.

have you had any issues with the key sticking or difficulty turning the key in the ignition?

@moosy

You've got a dodgy connector somewhere...

It's not fuse related because you say guage cluster lights

are powering on intermitantly.

Always handy to find information that details all the related

electrical equipment that's connected to that circuit. This

is useful for checking out faulty earth connections, that can

have an effect.

I haven't worked on Porsche, so I can't offer you any specific

information.

However, your symptoms are very similar to faults I've come

across on other vehicles, where the headlight switch has been

at fault. On most vehicles it's a multi-function switch providing

a signal to other electrics, like dashboard ...

Just suggesting some routes you could explore to find the fault,

maybe a Porsche owner who's experienced your fault can relate

to this, because often all cars have their common faults.
