Airbag Light on after interior change

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've got a 2002 986 which came with a tan interior which I've now changed to a to a black interior from facelift 2003 scrap car. Since the change the airbag light has lit and I've been trying to clear the fault codes without any success. I've bought durametric and it's showing fault codes 23 & 24 but they have no description. I've checked the steering wheel and passenger side airbag and they seem fine and if I disconnect them and retest it give another error as well which clears when I reconnect them. Anyone know how I can find out what fault codes 23 & 24 are for?

Any help would be great, I've been working on this for a few days now.

:welcome:

23 Driver's seat belt tensioner -- Fault memory/warning light

24 Passenger's seat belt tensioner -- Fault memory/warning light

Possible cause of fault

- Incorrect coding

- Short circuit to B+/grounol or open circuit in the wiring between the driver's seat belt tensioner and the control module

- Driver's seat belt tensioner faulty

- Triggering unit for airbag faulty

Start by checking the coding using Durametric, a PST2, or PIWIS tester.

O my word, your a star. I plugged in the leads but must of forgot to push the little tabs back in. Just been in the garage and it's fixed.

Thank you so much. Is there a list of fault codes somewhere?

Rob

Most systems fault codes are in the service manual.

OBD II fault codes (and Tiptronic) are in the OBD II manual (for specific DME years).

Thanks, I'll have to get a copy of one. Are they printed or electronic?

You can find both - but please no copyrighted material here.
