Airbag Deployment

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know for sure how the airbag deploys with regards to the Airbag cover on the drivers side? Has anyone ever seen their airbag deploy? I am contemplating mounting a silver airbag crest atop the gold one and am trying to evaluate the chances of it becoming a projectile in the event of a deployment.

I have found a thread that shows the crest bolted to the airbag from behind, so I am wondering, does the airbag split, flip to the side or flip upwards?

Steering wheel air bag splits. Both the 3 spoke and 4 spoke If you have a vinyl one it is easy to see the pattern, or trace it with your finger pushed against the cover.

It is bolted in place. It is not on a hinged like the passenger side front air bag.
