Convertible top problems.

Recommended Posts

Awhile ago my top did not want to go up and down. After searching on the site I found out that my fluid was low. Filled it up and top worked fine for awhile but then would get low again. Avoiding the major problem i just keep filling the fluid up. Where is this fluid going? Do i have a bad piston or something? I've become a master at adding the fluid but would like to fix the problem before it gets any worse. Any help/information would be great thanks.

If you have to consistently add fluid, I'd say you def have a case of losing fluid somehow and somewhere. My C4 cab has had one fluid top up in several years. It's not supposed to eat through fluid that easily. Do you see any fluid sitting under the hydraulic fluid chamber, or maybe even on your driveway or garage floor?

Car is pretty much put away for the winter. I start it every week but I'm not going to take anything apart. I'll wait till it's warm to i can tackle that and the spark plug tubes........

Fill it up again and run the top up and down a few times with the car stationary. You'll probably find a puddle of fluid on your driveway under one of your rear wheelwells and you'll know which cylinder to replace.
