Assistance identifying 'Euro'(?) front bumper

Recommended Posts

There seems to be a lot of chatter lately, both here & on Rennlist, concerning alternative 996 front bumpers. I've been trying to follow as my '03 came with a front bumper in need of some bodyshop work. (grrrr.... other story). Anyway, I figure if I'm going to pay someone $300 (or whatever) to repaint my front bumper, I'll hold off a bit and look to see what other options are out there. Maybe something a little more aggressive without becoming a GT3 wanna-be.

So, one member (programmatore) mentions LA Porsche as a source of Pcar parts in addition to Carnewal & Mashaw & many others....

Sorry, getting to the point now: at the LA Porsche site, 911pcar.com, is this page: In particular some attractive, to me, pictures labelled as "GT3 Type II Euro style front bumper cover".

gt3%20euro%20model%202.JPG

I figure it's different enough from standard GT3s to avoid any poser stigma yet nicely aggressive. But this is the only mention that I have so far been able to find of this bumper and I don't know anything about this vendor (not a supporter of renntech?).

Searching for GT3 bumpers hasn't yielded anything either.

Are these, in fact, properly labelled at Euro GT-3 bumpers or are they something else?

thanks for your time,

krista

Remember there were two GT3 styles from the factory. The pre MY2002 GT3 (for RoW) and US Aerokit Cup and the MY04 GT3 that has the new style fenders and headlights. The bumpers are not interchangeable since the fenders and headlights are different.

So if your car is a MY02 or newer you would want the MY04 GT3 style (or Aerokit II style) front bumper.

I personally wouldn't worry about being a poser -- the fact is the GT3 style bumpers have larger openings for air to the radiators. I can't think of a good reason not to have that.

I believe all of Gert's (Carnewal.com) bumpers are factory parts unless you specifically ask him to get another brand.

BTW... RennTech.org does not have advertising sponsors per se. What the featured vendors here do (to be a featured vendor) is give RennTech.org members a discount - RennTech.org receives no advertising monies from any vendor.
