Convertible Top Closing Problem

Recommended Posts

It's been a long time since I posted something here, and I came back home in need of some help.

My 2006 Boxster has been very reliable since new, but recently it shows the first issue when the top is closing as shown in the picture(btw, it's not my pic, I found it somewhere on the net). If I stop at service position while closing first, then the top close just fine. Just in time out of warranty. :censored:

OK, the first help I can think of ToolPant & Loren, so here I came back home wounded.

Help!

We forgive you! LOL!!!

Here is a write-up on the possible causes, known as "When the Top Edge Doesn't Fall into the Guide Channels": http://sites.google.com/site/mikefocke2/convertibletopedgedoesnotfallintoguidech

Note that the write-up concentrates on this problem as it occurs on 986's, but most of it applies to 987's.

Also note that the "finger-spring" on 987's is slightly different in shape, but the same advice applies.

In your case, I would check the "looped string" first and then check the velcro straps.

Keep us posted.

Regards, Maurice.
