Problems with Adaptive Sport Seats in 996

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I need help with my new Adaptive Sport Seats, which I purchased from a 997. Now everything works (Electric adjustment of fore/aft position, seat height, seat bottom angle, seat back angle), but I cannot make adjustable side and shoulder bolsters to work. This was almost primary reason to buy those seats for my 996. Is there anyone, who can help me in this case?

Thanks and best regards,

Kras

I am not familiar with the adaptive sport seats. Are the controls on the side like the 996 power seats? If so I am thinking that somehow power is not getting to these functions. I would look at the wiring diagrams and connectors for a 996 and compare them to the 997 ones. I have the ones for the 996 but not for the 997 so I can't compare.

I saw a wiring diagram for 997 seats a while back. The seat wiring included CAN connections. I have Adaptive seats in my Mercedes. The seat system includes a separate controller that figures out what the vehicle is doing and gives the seat the information it needs to adapt to driving conditions. I believe this communication is done via what Mercedes calls the Most system which seems to be similar to the CAN system found in Porsches. Perhaps, the seats are expecting driving information from the car that they can "adapt to" and that you need connections as well as the devices on the other end for your seats to talk to for the adaptive portion of the seat to work.

Thanks for your help. I dont know exactly, what the problem is. I heard from my electrician that problem really is with this can bus?!I Maybe someone has whole shematic for this seats and could provide me those.... Maybe Loren? As I said, problems are with this adjustable side and shoulder bolsters. The best would be, If someone would chime in, who has done such a conversion.

Thanks again,

Kras
