Activating Handsfree Bluetooth Mode with PIWIS

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know from where exactly on PIWIS interface can we activate the Handsfree Bluetooth mode?

I have IPHONE4 and it does not work with SAP protocol.

I took my car to a Porsche dealer yesterday. They connected with PIWIS and told me that they couldn't find the Handsfree activation menu.

Thanks,

Oktay

Did they look under handset coding for PSM3?

Well they told me that they've look everywhere. But the problem is that they've never did this before :(

That's why I was wondering if someone knows the exact place (menu) of coding so that I could guide them.

Thanks,

Oktay

Hello, I had the same problem, same phone, Cayenne GTS, 2010, I did not have the hands free profile and only few phones could be detected from the PCM. I went to Porsche dealer and they did actually activated the hands free profile within 10 minutes, after this every phone could be recognised. Probably the dealer you went did not know how to activate it.

Regards,

Manos

Your VIN shows no Bluetooth installed on your car to start with. Did you have any other phones working with BT on that car before? My guess is not but I could be wrong. In that case you have to pay money to Porsche to get a code for that and then enter it in PIWIS. there is TSB on this site about adding BT to PCM 3.0.

It's the biggest authorised dealer in here and unfortunatelly they don't know as they've never done this before.

It has the bluetooth option. My phone can see the PCM and inittiate pairing. I am able to set the password on PCM and enter it on my phone. After that the PCM shows a Connection Successful message but the phone is not connected. It obviously is the SAP mode problem.

Thanks.

if you can connect other phones and they work then you have to ask your dealer to check your version of firmware on PCM (i believe v1.4 is the latest). the early verision had some issues with phone connections and there was at least one upgrade since they came out in 2008. there is no other BT menu in PIWIS. the only PIWIS option is to active BT option by entering a code

It does work with other phones like with my Nokia 6700. It transfers the phonebook and I can make calls through PCM. That's because Nokia supports SIM Access Profile. Once PCM connects it blocks the phone screen and you cannot use the phone unless you disconnect it from PCM. So its almost the same as if I insert the SIM Card to the SIM Card slot on the PCM. Only this time it access the sim through a Bluetooth connection. The PCM uses its internal phone which has its own IMEI number to place calls.

The problem is that the IPHONE and Blackberry phones do not support the direct SIM access with the SAP protocol. Thats why I need to disable this and use the PCM as audio device only for Mic and Speakers with the bluetooth connection. This setting must be somewhere in PIWIS and many people had this configured through Porsche dealers. I was hoping that someone would know how to code this. But it looks like I would have to to call the Porsche Germany for support since no one knows the answer :(

Thanks,

Oktay

strange, i had three different models of BB over the last 3 years (including 9800 now) all work with PCM 3 without any problems and without any setup from PIWIS. be it as it may.

as an fyi

Porsche released a software update for the PCM 3.0 (for the new 2009 Carrera, Cayenne, Boxster, & Cayman models). The update will fix a few common "bugs" that have been found in the new system. Most of the fixes are only relevant if you have factory add-on modules, such as XM, Bluetooth, Navigation, or the iPod/Interface kit.

pcm30softwareupdate.jpg

Updates PCM 3.0 from V1.10 to V1.4

Here are the current "bugs" which are addressed:

  • "INFO" and "MAP" buttons do not function if "INFO" or "MAP" is used to leave an open route list.

  • Incorrect display of remaining range when in "miles".

  • FM audio is muted until source is changed to AM.

  • When a saved preset station is selected, the wrong station is displayed.

  • In "ASIA" coding, RDS does not function.

  • Intermittent loss of XM radio.

  • Display does not match with the selected source.

  • iPhone: Audio playback does not restart after phone call.

  • USB device not available until system restart.

  • Only USA: Maps set to European styling (wrong highway colors, POI icons, etc.)

  • Temporary disappearance of TMC (traffic) messages during a drive cycle.

  • For Voice Control, the "closest gas stations" command results in a list of the closest hotels.

  • Bluetooth disconnection with Nokia mobile phones.

  • The first activation of any function of the steering column switches (i.e. turn signal) ends a current telephone call.

  • The opposite party cannot be heard in the vehicle if a phone call is made immediately after system start-up.

  • Pairing or connection with a mobile phone via Bluetooth is no longer possible, although it had previously functioned.

I took my car to the service another time yesterday and this time they've managed to solve my problem.

They have disabled the SIM Card and SAP profile by using the PIWIS device. Now I can use my IPhone with no problems at all. It works perfect :)

Oktay
