rough idle when cold

My 2001 Boxster S has had a rough idle when cold since I purchased it with 89kmiles, it now has 95kmiles and the same problem. After the car had been sitting overnight in a cold (37F, ~3C) garage I turned on the ignition without turning the engine on and configured the Durametric software to read out several temperature values:

12C -- intake air temp

4.5C -- engine temp

3.8C -- oil temp

Could my issue be with a faulty intake air temp? If so, what sensor produces this value? The MAF maybe? I have the Bentley (sp?) book and an admitedly quick scan didn't reveal a temperature sensor in the air intake.

Any and all ideas are appreciated.
