enabling "AUX" on PCM1

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've spent hours on this forum trying to find the answer to this question.

Replaced/disconnected the cd changer in favor of an iPod (just got the new iphone4) but the radio does not appear to recognize the adapter. I know that on the CDR220 you have to enable the aux and i'm guessing the same may apply to the PCM1.

I've read the PCM1 manual but there is no mention of this priocess. I know others have done it, but no one seems to mention how they did it.

Does anyone know how to enable the external audio option or aux on the pCM1?

Thank you.

Sorry, I don't think so. The CDR-220 is made for Porsche by Becker and the PCM 1 were made for Porsche by Siemens.

They are very different and I see no AUX out on the schematic for PCM 1.

Perhaps someone else has other ideas?

Loren,

Thank you. That is partly what i have been reading. On the other hand i've also read post in which others have said to have done this; the problem is that they never mentioned how they did it.

Hopefully one of those will chime in.

There is no AUX IN in the PCM1, that's for sure, however, there are 3 ways to do it.

1. Use AUX-IN of the CD changer. That would require you to use the line-in connector of the CD changer on a three piece connector on the back of the PCM1 (top connector). You want the blue piece. Then you can use CD changer mode in place of AUX IN, you only need the changer to have CDs.

2. Use cassette in. That would require disassembling the PCM1 (I did it), but that's a tricky way, you probably do not want it.

3. Use some 3rd party CD changer emulator that would trick the PCM1 into thinking it's actually playing CDs.

If I were you, I'd stick with option 1. It's easy to do and it cost you nothing.

Interesting thing, PCM1 has an AUX RGB input (video) which can be activated by pulling a certain pin to ground, but NO audio AUX-IN.
