2000 Convertible Top Issue - Won't Move

Recommended Posts

I have a 2000 996 with the optional hard top, well the other day I finally took the hard top off and attempted to put the soft top up, it went up and down a couple of times but I had to assist it when trying to latch at the windshield (it would get about 2 inches away and stop); The real problem that I have is that after trying the rocker switch a couple of times nothing happens anymore - the roof cover doesn't retract to allow the soft top to come up, I can hear a pump or something turning on and the red dash light came on and flashes when I push the rocker panel button. Do you guys think that this is possibly a low fluid issue or maybe something more serious?

PS - I put the hard top back on for now so that I can still drive the car, but it would be nice to know what the problem is. I also attempted to use the door key switch and nothing happened.

Sounds like the cover may have jammed after the slow roof movements. Do you have a durametric to read codes out of the top mechanism? The slow top movement are likely either mechanism lubrication or low fluid issues (I suspect the latter).
