l n engineering oil filter adapter, does it hang too low?

I like it because it's even easier to change the oil filter, plus it provides 100% oil filtration, which the stock filter does not.

The only downside is you can't cut open the filter as easily, you need a special tool to properly cut open a metal filter to inspect it.

As for clearance you will only have a problem if you sandwich in an accusump adapter, and even then unless your car is lowered you won't have a problem.

So stock ride height and no accusump sandwich and it won't be any lower than stock.

The LN adaptor actually keeps the filter slightly higher up than the stock set up, so ground clearance is not an issue. When installing, be sure to lube the inside and outside o-rings with oil, and torque to spec. When putting on a new spin on filter, be sure to lightly oil the gasket and only tighten the filter 1/2 turn past hand tight (we regularly get question about why the adaptor is coming off with the filter, and it inevitably is because no lube on the gasket and then King Kong tighten it.........). Installed properly, the filter comes off without the adaptor.

Or easy I love mine and have the whole kit as well I just stock up on the filters from NAPA and crush rings from the dealer and change my oil. It's the easiest to do of our 4 cars by far because of the L&N system. Kudos to JFP for letting me know about when we 1st aquired our 98 986. :)

News Flash. I recieved my stuff today from LN engineering. Initially i was charged $35 ups shipping. When i got the package, UPS tacked on an additional $62.50 in brokerage fees. What a bunch of ****ing crooks. I hate UPS with a passion.

So. $171.60 with shipping. After i got it $234.10 :(

I've heard stories of this happening.

Just curious, on any of the paperwork did you see the NAFTA COO declaration exemption statement? I've tried including this with things (less than $1000) I've shipped to Canada, and was told by UPS CSRs it would reduce the fees signifigantly.

"I hereby certify that the good covered by this shipment qualifies as an originating good for purposes of preferential tariff treatment under the NAFTA."



"For purposes of obtaining preferential tariff treatment, this document must be completed legibly (print or type) and in full by the exporter and be in the possession of the importer at the time the declaration is made. This document may also be completed voluntarily by the producer for use by the exporter."

Nope. No Nafta. I did call cssa though and they said they have no control over what shipping co,s can charge on brokerage fees. They can bend you over any which way they feel they can get away with. I could have had the adapter shipped to a US address and crossed the border and brokered it myself which would cost about $10. But my time driving down, dealing with CSSA, bla bla bla ,2 hours later, is it worth it? I asked LN engineering before i bought the goods if they would ship USPS, they said no because there is no tracking. USPS is excellent and their fees are realistic.UPS is a complete rip off.

I did send LN engineering a note on how UPS treats customers and their fees.

Put it this way. I had some Wetekole seat covers shipped to me from Hawaii for my truck. They arrived a few days ago in a huge box.36" x 24" x 10" Cost me $30 shipped USPS. The box from LN Engineering was 1/2 cu/ft. 6"x6"x6" = $98.00

That's really unfortunate, I'm sorry to hear this. If only USA shippers had a better understanding of how to ship things.

Or better yet, UPS would do this work on the behalf of the customer!

As an interesting aside, I've spent considerable time researching this area of logistics, and it is somewhat "humerous" that USPS actually requires the same thing, but the trade agreement, nor are the tarrifs enforced as soon as Canada post accepts the item!!! AND fedex and DHL REQUIRE the SENDER to pay the fees up front!

UPS is really doing a "diservice" to both the shipper and receiver by not being more up front about this!

Yup. Canadians are all too aware that UPS is a rip off but nothing you can do about it. I have refused UPS parcels, but then the shipper will charge restocking fees. Its water under the bridge now. Canadians really get screwed over not only by shippers like UPS but just the difference in costs when you cross the border. I usually deal with US companies,bought my Porsche in California and Airstream in Seattle Wa,and will continue to shop in the US.

Get this. You can buy a skidoo in the US which is made by Bombardier in Quebec Canada for $5000 +, less than you can buy direct from Bombardier or a dealer in Canada. Makes no sence. The problem with that is once you get the machine into Canada often the manufacturer wont honour their warranty because it was bought in the US. Canada is playing catch up and now its no longer worth it to buy say a toyota truck in the US because once you pay all the taxes,12%, brokerage fees which are minimal if you broker it yourself and then the duty which is $$$, then RIV (registrar of imported vehicles) and then have to have the vehicle inspected. You might as well buy in Canada.

Anyways. :)
