The left rear drive axle (Tiptronic) is easily replace-able, right?

Hi. I think I have a leak on the inner CV boot on the left axle of my 2000 C2 Tip car. i think it's easier to just get a whole new axle (with CV boots already on it) and replace it. Is it as easy as it looks: just unbolt the allen bolts on each side, remove/re-install. Do I need to drop the engine to get the axle out?

If you can get the axel out, which is not hard and done without dropping the engine, you can also replace the boot your self; it is not that hard and has been written up before. If you choose to go the replacement axel route, watch where they come from as a lot of online sellers are pushing inferior Asian made replacements that are often short lived. In either case, be sure to Loctite the axel flange fasteners and torque them to specs.
