Wiring for stock deck lid

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, long time lurker, first time poster.

My car came with the factory aerokit wing, but I'm thinking of swapping it out for the stock deck lid. I was looking in the engine bay and did not find any wiring or harness to connect the automatic spoiler. Since my car didn't originally have the automatic deck, does this mean I can't hook one up? Or is there a harness I can buy that piggybacks somewhere? The only wiring the aerokit wing has is for the fan.

:welcome:

There is a short wire harness at the right side of the rear fender that goes to the deck lid.

To change back you will need to replace that harness with a stock one - either from a salvage car or a new one.

Not even a 5 minute job and certainly the easiest part of changing the rear lid/spoiler.

If you need the part number then I will need to know the exact model and year of your car (including coupe or Cab).

I am in the process of changing to a turbo S rear lid/spoiler from stock so have been researching this! The plug, as Loren says, is above the light unit on the right side of the car. There are 14 pins, not all used. 13&14 are the engine bay light, 7&8 are your fan, 5&6 are the spoiler motor drive, 1&2&3&4 are the spoiler switch for sensing if it is up or down and to tell the other brake light to switch on (4) when the spoiler is up. 12 is the brake light power feed, they switch the earth. Colours of wires in the lid/ spoiler part seem random and depend on year of the part! You will have to have the spoiler function turned on again by PIWIS as it will have been disabled as you had a fixed spoiler. I hope all the above is correct as I intend to connect mine up soon to test it! Trust someone will shout if I've got it wrong! There are loads of other issues regarding fit etc but I will not hijack the thread. Shame you are in the USA I'd have had your kit off you to put on mine! C'est la vie!

Thanks guys. It's a **** shame indeed as I'm looking to swap the wing for a stock deck, plus cash to me ofcourse. If there's anyone else out here in the SF Bay Area, hit me up. I'd prefer same color to minimize need for repainting. Carrera White.
