Electrical Issues...

Recommended Posts

My 99 Boxster got all funny on me this week. I first noticed the keyless entry did not work and though it must have been a week since I drove it, then the a/c fan did not work, then the headlights. A whole bunch of the electrical systems are dead. I think I lost one of the main fusible links, but where are they in this car? I looked in the fuse panel and only saw little one. Any help?

If one of the main power circuits have blown a fusible link etc... this may point to a slightly more serious problem.

Normally the individual device (eg headlights) would blow their own fuse for that circuit.

If something has caused a few of the circuits to not work, then the problem is further back - probably something causing an issue to the main 12v feed to the fuse panel from the battery.

The problem sounds like it is upstream from the fuse panel or something in the fusepanel itself.

Note that there is a little connection point (inside fuse panel) for allowing a 12v connection to be made to open the hood if your battery has gone flat etc...From memory I think you pull this out slightly (I think it acts as a switch) - make sure this is fully pushed in. Check the owners manual on opening the hood etc when the main battery is flat....
