  1. I had the first X74 set in the US, now sitting in my basement. I have to say that is was the best normal suspension I have seen. I upgraded to a full race Moton setup with a lower ride height and much stiffer springs and the performance difference is amazingly small. You can drive it to the track and then RACE it at the track. Not may suspensions, particularly non adjustable ones can claim that. PAG did their homework on this one.
  2. Consider them a 'disposable' item. They do help, no doubt about it, but they are designed for the larger discs and do blow alot of air into the wheel as the discs on our cars are smaller. They are still much better than nothing.
  3. I run 245's up front without any problems. Some negative camber may be required. I have almost -2 in the front, not sure what would happen with less.
  4. Can't help with the offsets as I am running BBS 3 pc wheels, but the X74 is great and with some decent negative camber, you should be able to fit 295's. I have Hoosiers which run wide in 285 and there is plenty of room around the tire.
  5. My 99 Boxster got all funny on me this week. I first noticed the keyless entry did not work and though it must have been a week since I drove it, then the a/c fan did not work, then the headlights. A whole bunch of the electrical systems are dead. I think I lost one of the main fusible links, but where are they in this car? I looked in the fuse panel and only saw little one. Any help?
  6. Snow chains on a GT3? I would think that it would be a snow plow with the ground clearance it has.

    Spring rates?

Sounds kinda on the light side to me. I would expect something more in the 350/450 lb range which would be about 55/65 n/mm.
  8. Either it is adjusted wrong or you need some more time with it to get used to it. I have one in my car and have 15 track days with it and have no shifting problems what so ever.
  9. Before I order a set tomorrow, I wanted to try and get some feedback from you guys who are running them. They are for race and DE only for my 996. I know they are OEM for the Cup Car so they can't be too bad. Outside of having to do routine inspections any downsides? I like the look and the repairability and the cost is competitive with similiar weight 3 pc wheels.
  10. How come I didn't get a Dilithium storage capsule with my 2003? I got scammed! Dear Porsche, please promptly forward (1) Dilithium storage capsule to me. Thanks. Seriously, was this only in 02's or should my car have had one? I would have removed it anyway, but just curious.
  11. 1. AIR JACKS 2. No 3. No, only some minor cutting and welding and you lose the back seats and need a big tank and a funny thing that sticks out of your hood.
  12. PCA is saying the cage is not acceptible, they are claiming Porsche did not design it for track use. I emailed them info from Porsches site that specifically shows it as a "racing cage" for "circuit" use. Any idea where I can get more info. Is the cage FIA or another organization approved? I don't want this to be the end of my racing hopes for this year. Any ideas?
  13. I can't believe I am arguing to have the cage approved for PCA stock class club racing. What do you guys think? Did Porsche design this safe enough for stock club racing and DEs?
  14. No, this is the cage.... http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx/p96087.jpg
  15. Here is a challenge for you Loren... what material if the Porsche clubsport cage for the Gt3 made from? Is it mild steel or alloy? This appears to be what will make the difference of it being legal for PCA racing or not. If you don't know, any thoughts on how to contact Germany to find out?
  16. It was a hypothetical situation, but it the entire system takes .64 liters, how much do you go through when you bleed them? If you are not 'changing' the fluid, I would expect less than the full .64l. Karl, you ran a full season without bleeding them?
  17. I give up, since PCNA can't seem to get me the info I want on a cetrain Exclusive option, I want to try to call Germany. Anyone know the switchboard number? These are who I want to contact: Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG Exclusive und Classic Center Porscheplatz 1 D-70435 Stuttgart Geschäftszeiten: Montag - Freitag 8.00 - 18.00 Uhr Samstag nach Vereinbarung Leitung Exclusive: Tilman Brodbeck Sekretariat Frauke Merkert Tel.: -5330 Ihre Kundenberater: Jochen Biemann Tel.: -5334 Peter Fraschka Tel.: -6184 Stefan Nadj Tel.: -5090
  18. Question on bleeding with SRF.... I open a new can, bleed the brakes, top it off... now what. I have 3/4 of a $65 can of brake fluid left. Is it garbage? How long will it keep "re-sealed" ?
  19. Currently I have TRG links all around on GT3 bars. The shocks and springs are X74. This is a great street/track suspension, but I am looking to make the move to a full blown track only race suspension. I've been looking at Sachs, JRZ and Moton. The X74 handles amazingly compared to the US or even ROW 030 suspensions but it is still too soft for racing. The ride height is manageable for most driveways, a few you have to go sideways on.
  20. I run TRG links with my GT3 bars. A few thing to be aware of.... 1. TRG drop links currently only work with 2wd cars in the front. They are working on a curved droplink for the AWD but don't have one yet. 2. The current TRG links will bind and break if placed under load in a tight radius turn situation on the stiffest two positions. This applies primarily to autocross, you will never get tight enough on a track. They are working on a fix, but for now, if you autocross, stay out of the first two holes on the front bar.
  21. Correct, that is the autoleveling sensor for the xenon lights.
  22. I have the technical specs on the Sachs Formula Matrix Dampers if anyone wants it email me. Has lots of great pictures and charts. I'm waiting on pricing. Are those the same ones that are standard on the Cup Cars now?
  23. I guess there are a few issues for me in turn 10. The X74 is definitely a weakness compared to a full race suspension and as such I can only take this turn at 80-90mph. Typically closer to 80 as I am doing DE's there and not races. I can come out of turn 9 at 80 and accel up to about 120 before braking into 10. With the RS14's the car will ABS after the initial brake stab but usually does not stay in it if the tires are hot and the surface is good. Maybe if I had bigger brakes that would be different. I am running 245-35-18 Hoosier R0S03s up front and 285-30-18's in the rear.
  24. Good info Carl. I have been researching the same stuff for my car. What is your opinion on single springs verses shorter springs with helpers? You mentioned getting rid of the rubber bushings. Where can I get poly or metal bushings? I guess the cup car is a logical option. Any part numbers? I need to get that **** parts book for the cup car! Hopefully motorsports will call me back one of thes days.
