Did the dealer install wrong spark plugs on my 08 Turbo

Recommended Posts

Hey guys i just got delivery of my new to me 08 CTT.. i am going thru the service records and about 12k miles ago when the previous owner took it in for service they replaced it with a Bosch plug part number 999-170-130-90.

From what I read this plug is for the non turbo models.. Did they install the wrong plugs or should it still work fine on the Turbo model? If it is wrong does this harm the motor in any way?

Yes, it would appear that those are the wrong plugs for a Cayenne Turbo.

The correct plugs for a Cayenne Turbo are: 999 170 228 90

Cayenne S Spark Plugs
The V8 naturally aspirated engine has nickel-yttrium spark plugs with four ground electrodes, which must be changed every 36,000 miles (60,000 km) or after 4 years according to the Technical Manual.

Cayenne Turbo Spark Plugs
The V8 turbo engine has air gap spark plugs with one double-platinum ground electrode, which must be changed every 24,000 miles (40,000 km) or after 4 years.
