Total newbie when it comes to cars... Just got an '03 Cayenne S with 57,000 Kms from a friend...

The engine is in good condition, however the Car has numerous electrical issues...

Biggest problem is the Rear-mounted Spare tyre not responsive. Rear trunk open light always on...

 

Numerous Fault Codes when I took it to the P-centre... Mobile pics of the codes because they wouldn't give them to me...???

1776 - Selector switch (faulty)

1575 - Manual control switched off (no display)

0778 - Steering angle sensor (No signal/communication)

1299 - GATEWAY (Implausible signal)

1592 - Air quality sensor (faulty)

0023 - Headlight beam adjustment angle sensor, rear....

0893 - Rear lid momentary-switch handle (Short circuit)

0927 - Terminal 30, right (right lighting) (Open circuit)

 

0576 - Terminal 15 (Implausible signal)

0325 - Rear window switch (Short circuit to ground)

I have no idea where to start... Any insight as to what I should change asap, and what can wait till later...

The number one cause of "strange electrical problems" in Cayenne is a bad battery.

Check to see if your Cayenne has the optional second battery - both batteries should be both load tested (out of the car) and have their specific gravity (of each cell) tested.

 

Once you have a know good battery situation - then re-run the diagnostics tests using a Porsche tool (PST2, PIWIS, or PIWIS 2) or Durametric software. Only these diagnostics will give you reliable diagnostic data on Porsche cars.
