05S p0016 after a p0011/0304/0305/0306

looking for some input?  I have a 2005 987s that as I was pulling into the marina pca autocross school this last weekend.  would not hold idle with flashing cel.  was ok at freeway speeds so I was able to drive it 40 miles home.  on the freeway it was a solid cel and drove ok.  using durametric 6 I pulled up p0011 p0300 p0306 p0305 p0304.  I swapped out the passenger side vario solenoid and reset it  runs ok , idles ok.  but now I get p0016.  tried swapping out passenger side cam position sensor and no help.

actual bank 1 cam =-9. to -12.

cam deviation is at 20.000

 

actual bank 2 cam = -0.2--0.5

cam deviation is at 3.4531

 

ims was done.  does not make any funny noises.

 

any help would be great

Plot thickens. Set TDC. Pulled bank 1 cam plugs. Not straight up and down. Off by just a little bit. Both cams clockwise. Instead of the center of the notch lining up with the seam. The trailing edge lines up with the seam. Even on both cams.

It looks like you may have a cam allocation issue.  P0011 sets if the cam deviations on bank 1 are more than +/- 10 degrees (all the other codes are cylinder misfires).  Before digging deeper, try hand rotating the engine (clockwise only) around to TDC again and see if the cams look the same, if they are, you need to start looking at why the cams are so far off, with an eye towards correcting the problem and reallocating the cams.

Good idea. Did that tonight when I got home. Couple of turns. They land in the same exact spot. So. Forget the crank. Let's line up the cams. When the cams are lined up the notch on the crank is about 1 inch before the mark on the block. Not sure it jumped teeth or busted cam guide. Not ims. That was done not to long ago and has been fine. Plus it has been driven at least 50 miles at freeway speeds from when I first acted up. Starting to think no way to fix in car. And if I pull it out, well then why not just build the 3.6 engine I have sitting here instead.
