Noisy spoiler on 2009 Carrera S

When I manually operate the spoiler on my recently purchased 2009 Carrera S, I hear a ratcheting noise when it's moving up and down. 

Does anybody know how to gain access in order to lubricate the mechanism?

And if so, what type of lubricant would you recommend?

From the service manual:

 

"Symptom
Squeaking noises from around the spoiler drive when extending and/or retracting the rear spoiler.
Causes and remedial action
Squeaking noises can occur when extending and/or retracting the rear spoiler as a result of dust or if the upper part
of the spoiler is too tight.
Remedial action
Clean the spoiler guides, seal bores using strips of adhesive tape and loosen the spoiler drive."
