Emission Control Warning Light

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, John here from Ireland,

I have a problem with my 996 C2 Tiptronic (MY1999) that maybe someone could throw some light on..

I re-connected the battery yesterday and started the car, started no problem but after a few minutes idling in the garage I noticed that the Emission Control Warning Light had lit up on the dash and the idle was sounding rough.

The dash light is not flashing and on all the time.

Can't understand why this has happened as I haven't driven it for some time but regularly start it and let it run in the garage for 20 minutes or so with no problems.

The reason I disconnected the battery is that there's a fault I think with the Nokia phone kit and it's discharging the battery every few days.

Anyone no why this might have occurred..

Cheers ☘️

If the problem fixes itself then the DME is smart enough to clear the code.

Still the faults code(s) would be good to know in case you have future issues. You should scan the car now and write them down.

Many thanks Loren, I will do that  ☘️
