dme/immobilizer replacement

Recommended Posts

Have a line on a non running 07 S Boxster w/tiptronic.  I think the immobilizer got wet.  Is the 07 like previous years where the dme/immobilizer/key can be swapped.  ECU Dr doesn't show an 07 but I have a message into them to see if they can repair these.

Can a combo from a 987 work if it comes from a 3.4 engine?  Would I also need the tiptronic computer?

Haven't found any from a boxster yet and haven't heard back from any of the usual dismantlers.

The "immobiliser" (PAS module) on a 987 is not under the left hand seat like it is on a 986.  They moved it to the center console, so they don't tend to get wet.  Very cleverly, they placed the Rear Control Module under the left seat instead, so that's what gets wet now.

If the problem is, in fact, the PAS module you would be better having a new one fitted.  You should be able to retain the existing keys, as they can be programmed to the PAS, unlike the 986.  It seems crazy to fit a used DME, keys, and PAS module combo, on which you will never be able to have new keys made, and could well be more expensive in the long run.

Just my 2 cents' worth.
