Buying 996 and driving 9 hours home

I am about to pull the trigger on my first 911, located 9 hours away.  Will fly in to buy and drive home.  What tools should I take with me on my carry on, just in case?  What should I buy before I hit the road?  Thanks

Last month I flew to California and drove back my new to me 996 c4 cab cross country back to Delaware. Flew out with a standard tool kit. Sockets, open end wrenches, torx set, screwdrivers etc. 

bought antifreeze and a jug of oil. 

 

Had slight antifreeze leak that went away when the engine was warm and just leaked overnight. ( main line into slip fit mount) 

car ran flawlessly, up to 147 at times. Mostly maintained a steady 90. 

Fun ride with my son.

Keep a close eye on the Expansion Tank. I well known part to fail and leak. Not easy to install, but Jake Raby posted a video showing the process on his Rennvision Channel.

Drove my '02 cabriolet with almost 50K miles from Minneapolis to Portland in the blazing August heat based on a PPI and optimism.

Only trouble on the way was key fob failure.

Will not be posting max speeds through ND and MT.

 

If you're buying a fussy fragile cabriolet, familiarize yourself on the emergency up and down procedures and make sure the you have a Phillips to undo the back panel.

Then think positive thoughts, smile and enjoy the ride...
