I purchased a 2001 996 about a month ago with a full Aero package.

I was always under the impression that the center of the rear wing moved.

I asked the dealer and he told me that the rear wing does not move.

I just watched (still watching) a race on speed where all of the Porsche's with Aero kits had the wing kicked up.

What gives?

If it is a factory aerokit then it can be moved. This is mine in the center position.

There are two allen head screws under the wing on each side. Once they are removed you can (carefully) lift the wing. To change the setting the bracket on the fixed part of the wing must be moved to a different set of holes. For the mid setting you remove two of the allen screws (don't lose them) and move the bracket. Then put the moveable wing screws back in with Loctite. Loctite is very important so they won't vibrate out.

Porsche recommends the highest rake setting only for track use.

Loren,

Thank you so much for clearing this issue up. For some reason I thought that the wing could be moved via a motor like a standard wing, which would be much more practical. Maybe the bracket would be too large to be hidden in the wing components.

Thanks again, and I will certainly remember the loctite.

Fred
