HELP! Found this part in old oil after oil change - where does it go back!

Recommended Posts

So was just finishing up an oil change in my 2004 cayenne turbo, (have done this 4-5 times before with no issues) and was putting the used oil into bottles for recycling when I found this important looking thing at the bottom of the pan!

It didn't fall out of the main oil sump (too big for that) but it could've come out when removing the oil filter. Possibly up in the filter housing somewhere?

That said, I've had a good look through diagrams online (eg http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-parts/hardparts.php?dir=9PA-03-06&section=104-10) and I can't find a part that looks like that!

Any help or pointers greatly appreciated, as I won't be driving this until I get this part back in where it should go!

OK maybe panicked too early 😁 yes I grabbed the old filter from the bin and checked that part fits. Removed new filter, cleaned up everything and stuck it back together. Thanks Loren for the fast reply.
