03' 996 C4S stuck cardan shaft @ differential

Recommended Posts

Hello - in attempting to replace the flex disc on the end of the cardan drive shaft, I found the drive shaft will not move from the front differential either way. I have put PB Blaster on it, but wondered if anyone has attempted, success, to get it loose to be able to move it forward.  Thanks for any suggestions!

Welcome to RennTech :welcomeani:

You only have to take off three of the bolts. There is the rubber disc, referred to as a Guibo, three bolts hold the drive shaft to the Guibo and three bolt hold the Guibo to the flange on the rear of the transmission. Once all three bolts are out use a large screwdriver or prybar to pry the flange off the Guibo, it will stick a bit, so you will need to use some force.

It's not the Guibo that is the issue. The problem is the drive shaft will not move at the front differential and needs to move into the front differential to be able be able to clear the transmission piece that comes out near the Guibo per picture. I thought there may be a technique, aside from beating on it a bit (lol) to get it loose. Thanks JFP!
