Aftermarket Bose Surround Available?

Recommended Posts

My car is a 987S on order. Have a build date of 11 Jul 05 (this next Monday). Since ordering my car, I drove a car with the Bose Surround and found it to be far superior to the standard sound system. Just curious if I can upgrade by buying the speakers aftermarket.

Incidentally Loren, the Bose Surround Sound system is a current option in the 987. It is described in detail in the Product Information guide. As such it clearly is no problem to add since it's made for the car. I guess my question is merely whether one has to go through Porsche to get it or if it is available at lesser cost from an aftermarket supplier.

I am aware of that - of course you can add Porsche parts - that is what we help folks with here. When you said aftermarket I assumed you meant non-Porsche parts. In many cases Porsche prohibits their suppliers from re-selling parts or systems designed for Porsche. There have been a few exceptions but I think your best bet is to try a Porsche parts discounter like Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost link at the top of the page).

That makes sense. I've since discovered that the system is far more than a few speakers. The upgrade would probably cost as much as the option. Besides, it's probably overkill for me.

Thanks Loren!
