rear main seal leak on '04?

Recommended Posts

I have a '04 Boxster, 5 speed man transmissions and have notice a small oil leak on the floor of my garage. It is in the middle and half way between the rear and center of the car. I have read about the rear main seal issue but it sounded like this had been fixed by Porsche on the newer cars. I have less than 7000 miles on it so far. Could this be the RMS?

Sounds a lot like RMS. Sorry to hear that. Since its under warranty have it checked asap. The RMS is really not that big a problem but definitely needs fixing. Just watch the engine speeds. It doesn't look like its been fixed even on the 987's. C&D reported that they had this problem on their test car ... but then that was driven to the limit. But as far as 04's go its definitely there but not as common as the earlier models

PS. In most cases the RMS problems happen within the first 10k miles
