Hazard lights continuously flash following battery replacement on 2005 boxster

After replacing a completely dead battery my four-way flashers continuously flash.  I also had a PSM warning which went away following a test drive.  However the four-way flashers continue to flash constantly so long as the battery is connected.  Cycling the hazard warning switch has no effect.  Fault reader shows no active faults.  Is there a way to resolve this problem without a visit to the shop?

All of the lights including the hazards go through the front end control unit. Chances are that either it took a spike or otherwise lost some of it's programming. A shop with a PIWIS tester should be able to try and re-program that module. 

The PSM warning is normal with a battery change and as you saw self correcting.
