MAF Installation & Replacing dash light

Recommended Posts

First, it looks like my Mass Air Flow Sensor has an error code, but I don't have the report, so I'm not sure if I need to post the code. When I rev to 5k, my accelleration hesistates and I lose almost all power--causing me to slow way down. Someone on another board confirmed this is caused by a bad MAF. Anyone know aftermarket MAFs and how to install? I am a complete schlamiel.

On an easier note, the light behind my dash digital clock on the instrument display burned out. What bulb do I need, and how easy is it to replace?

Thanks for your help,

Steve

I bet you have a 2.5. Had the same hesitation on my 1997 but at 4k rpm, then after a slight lag it would go to red line. Replaced $en$or and back to normal. For some reason the 2.5 sensor is much more expensive then the 2.7/3.2. Bosch has a monoply on the sensor market. The only place I know to buy it is from a Porsche dealer. Let me know if you can find it in the aftermarket. It is next to the air box where you put in the filter - can't miss it - you will see the wires to it. Need a T-20 anti tamper bit to remove the 2 screws that hold the sensor in place.

The bulb you need is 999 631 303 90. Guess where you buy it. Never seen it at Pep Boys, Grand Auto, Kragens, or Auto Zone. Must not be a common enough bulb. Jeff
