engine noise

i have a 99 C4. recently start hearing noise from the rear right. at first i thought it was the tires; had all four tires replace and the noise is still there. noise is only noticeable when i leave my foot on the gas to maintain speed. once the foot is off the gas or accelerating, the noise goes away. this is more annoying than the whining noise of the engine.

Might be a wheel bearing. Find a deserted parking lot. Accelerate the car to 25mph, engage the clutch then gently swerve the car back and forth. As each side of the car weights and unweights does the noise come and go? If yes then it is a wheel bearing.
