Front trunk light

I have an 02 C2 Cab and recently I notice that when the front trunk is open the light will not come on, instead it turns on the engine compartment light. I'm getting 12v+ to the light at all time but the ground trigger signal is not there. Has any one experience this problem?

Both trunk and engine compartment lights come on when either is opened. Is the from bulb burned out?
