brake flush

coolant flush

microfilters

2. what are exactly done in these services? some sound redundant. should all be performed?

yearly service

15k

30k

45k etc services

2yr

4yr

8yr

10 yr services

3. what are the most commons "failure" items on early 996s, and how many miles do clutch, brakes, spark plugs, thermostat, water pump, radiator, fan clutch, suspension parts, battery last? are 996s known to have a weak clutch?

thanks all for insightful help. it's nice to see so many diehard fans. btw i truly believe that w/ reg maintenance and TLC these 996s can last easily up to 150,000 miles or 20 yrs.

4 wheel alignment

(This is for US cars only)

oil change - 15,000 miles or once per year

brake flush - every 2 years unless the car is tracked - then at least twice per season

coolant flush - never unless the system is damaged

microfilter - pollen filter? 15,000 miles

fuel filter - 30,000 miles

air filter - 30,000 miles

4 wheel alignment - inspect every 15,000 miles and align as needed

Porsche characterizes these as:

Minor Maintenance (every 15,000, 45,000, 75,000, 105,000 miles etc.)

Major Maintenance (every 30,000,60,000,90,000,120,000 miles etc.)

Annual Maintenance (on vehicles with annual mileages of less than 9,000 miles, an annual maintenance must be carried out once a year)

Additional Maintenance (items that have special needs)

If you want the detailed listings email me and I will send you the five documents.

These are pretty much the same as any car and very much dependant on how the car is driven and the care it has been given.
