Removing 997 Inner Door Sill

I'm trying to remove the driver's side inner door sill....I can see how to do it on the passenger side (remove the mat in the storage tray and undo the screw) but I can't figure out the driver's side. There are 2 plastic black plugs on the side of the sill, but when I took them out, all I could see was carpet...Any ideas?

I'm not trying to take off the scuff plate (the part that says carrera) I'm trying to remove the inner door sill (that houses the trunk/hood release)

When you pull out the plastic plugs, you will need to insert a hex wrench and loosen the screws which are about one inch inside. Once they are loose, just pull hard and the piece will come out. The sill is held secure by plastic ridged screws. Be careful and do not pull too far because you must detach the sill from the attached wire. I installed carbon fiber inner sills. New piece will snap right in after you re-attach the wire. Now tighten the hex screws and put back the plastic caps.
