3.6L Throttle Body

Recommended Posts

First I want to thank Loren and gang for putting together this forum. I registered a couple of months ago but didn't pay too much attention to it until yesterday. I immediately sent in a contribution. I'll get my garage updated over time and hopefully I'll be able to contribute to the technical dialog that seems to go on here.

Now for my question. We are in the process of putting a X51 package on a new 3.6L motor which I will be stuffing in my 99 996 race car. One problem that we haven't addressed yet is what to do about e-gas. We'll figure it out but it would be great if someone had solved this problem before us. Does anyone know if any of the manual throttle bodies can be swapped with the 3.6L e-gas TB? TIA

Jim

:welcome: and thank you for your donation!

All of the mating parts are the same (according to the parts list). If you are using an older DME (non-egas) I think you will be okay. If you are using a new DME -- I don't know what it will do without egas. Perhaps there is a switch in the DME software to turn it off? If not, you would need the older DME.

I'm pretty sure the X51 kit came with it's own DME which would likely be expecting e-gas. We'll have to see if it can be disabled. Either way, thanks for the info. It sounds like I will have some flexibility in what throttle body to use. Jim
