Very Weird Mileage since first serivce!

Recommended Posts

I wonder anyone experienced the same thing as i did. after my first serivce 28000KM... a full tank of gas only give me 300KM!!! thats very weird. i used to have 400KM or 450 at least... is that due to the new engine oil?? any advise will help...and how much dealer charge you for replacing the rotors and pads... is that true everytime u change pads, you have to change rotors as well, like BMW... thanx

Engine oil should type should have a very minor effect on fuel mileage, it's possible your speedo calibration is off or another electronic related gremlin is causing this.

If rotors were free it would be best to replace them every time with pads, but it is permissable to have them resurfaced if lightly scored and within the permissable wear limits. If they are evenly worn and smooth I would run them as they are with new pads on my own car but cannot recommend it as the best and most professional way to do a brake job where the customers ultimate satisfaction and the dealers margins are a consideration.

yeah... here in vancouver, we only have one dealer.. that sucks, for a brake pad itself i am thinking must be over 800 dollars for Front or Rear only...i might bring my car back to dealer next week.... see what they gona say... thanx

The Porsche-approved oils would not result in this dramatic shift in fuel economy. It would be surprising if the dealership used non-approved oils.

The pad and rotor wear limits are defined here. In most cases the dealership replaces the rotors and wear sensors with the pads.

Don't forget that the brake fluid must be flushed every two years too.

The mileage depends on your driving style. Sometimes, I even see 550 miles after refuel, and if I do 100MPH+ for an hour or so, it gives only 290 miles with a full tank of gas.

thanx. but thats not the case for me. because i notice the differents rightaway...no matter how hard you drive, can you get 300 KM for FULL TANK? 100Liter..

Try to ask your dealer to reset all the ECU for you, including the one for the transmission. This should sort it out.
