Hey,

Just wanted to know if you can retrofit the pcm1 in a 00 996 c2?

Also just wanted to know if you can fit a touch screen alpine dvd/mp3 player and replace the existing speakers without removing the carpets etc?

Just need installation procedures for this. Someone recommended to put the pcm1 instead of adding a whole new alpine system? What do you recommend?

My 2000 C4 came with PCM1. While it works well and is easy to use, the disks haven't been updated since 2001 or so (and won't be updated). Plus it takes 7 CDs to cover the US. I would not pay much for PCM1. I'd look for a good aftermarket DVD-based unit that will continue to get updated disks.

I would love some instructions on how to do this? My car is in India and the guys here know nothing about the installation in Porsche's.........moreover don't want to trip the alarm when removing the radio unit? Any instructions with pictures would be really appreciated .......

LA Dismantlers are ofering the pcm1 for $1,300 - the only reason i would go for this is because of the easy installation verus putting a touchscreen alpine unit?

Really want some help as you cant get any in India........

Upgrading with a DVD reader? Are you 100% sure that this can be done?

The never disks have different electronics (and thus most likely different software). My PCM-1 8-bit doesnt even read PCM-1 16-bit CD's.

How it is supposed to read modern DVDs, much less display the higher resolution maps is beyond me. But if its doable, I'll happily do the mod
