Gentlemen (women)

I have a low frequent rumbling in the car between 50 and 55 mph.

My car is MY2004 CTT registered in June 2003. It is not the tires and it is felt like the exitation is coming from the aft half of the car. Has anybody experienced any unballance in the shafts. If so, what was the reason and what did PAG with it. Is this a production fault or just a wear issue I cant blame anyone for? Or can it be something else?

I think I have seen some post about this issue earlier, but could not find any specific information about it.

I will very much appreciate any information there may exist.

Thanks in advance.

03s and some 04s were fitted with the wrong Cardan Shaft (main drive shaft) this resulted in a low frequency sound in that speed range. If you say the word "wummering" 3 times fast that sort or period and it matches the sound your hearing then thats what it is.

Dealer should change under warranty it is a known issue

Hello

I have an 04 CS and the drive shaft needs replacement. Since you had it replaced without warranty, I was wondering if you can provide me the dealer name and number who replaced it for free.

Thanks

Danish

My dealer will replace the shaft at no cost after order from Germany. Even though the car is outside warranty. Quite good service!

Danish,

I just had mine replaced. I went to two dealers. One quoted $1500 ($1055 part the rest tax and labor). The other $925 ($643 part and only 2 hours labor @ $103/hr). I went with the second. Neither wanted to hear anything about covering it out of warranty. The latter suggested writing a letter to Porsche.

P.S. My 04 CS has 52k miles and is out of warranty.

Craig

The warranty is still 2 years for drive shafts, if Filledukke's dealer will do the fix inclusive the part for free, all the costs are for the dealer than.
